This is the "masters degree" of aviation certificates. This is your final step in achieving the highest certificate that the F.A.A. has to offer. Most corporations, and all airlines, require, at some point, for you to have your A.T.P in order to work for them. The ATP allows you to act as pilot-in-command under FAR part121 for a domestic, flag carrier or for commercial operations of large aircraft, act as PIC under FAR part 135 passenger-carrying operations of airplanes having seating capacity of 10 seats or more, instruct other pilots in air transportation service in aircraft of the category, class, and type for which you are rated.

Costs
The A.T.P will run about $1000.00 to $1500.00

HINT: Before taking your ATP make sure that you are instrument current and fluent with instrument terminology. Otherwise, this rating can cost you several hundred dollars more than expected.

Time
The ATP written exam is quite lengthly, so plan on studying for it in advance. We suggest 6 to 8 months before you plan on taking the test. There are many books and flight test preparations to help you in this matter. The more knowledge you can acquire the better you will do.

Flight Time
There are schools that offer only the ATP and are very good. Providing you have your written completed, these schools can give you your flight test in 3 to 7 days.
