The Multi-engine Rating


If you received your commercial rating to fly for hire, it is imparetive that you add the multi-engine rating to your collection. Most companies, charter operations, and airlines use twin engine airplanes to conduct everyday business. This is a fairly simple rating that can be acheived over a short period of time. It is a good idea to get your multi-engine rating with instruments and commercial. So you can be a commercially instrument and muti rated pilot.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE MULTI-ENGINE RATING


No age requirement.
No formal ground school.
No F.A.A regulated flight time is required, but you must have at least a private license.
Start your flying lessons.
Most flight school and insurance companies have a minimum flight time for the mult-engine rating, usually somewhere between 5 to 10 hours of dual instruction.

After you have met these requirements, you are ready for your multi-eingine checkride (flight test).

Costs
Plan on spending $800.00 to $1100.00 depending on the school and the equipment they are using. This should include all flight time, instructor fees, flight test and misc. equipment.

Time
Approximately 3 weeks.

Flight Time
That will depend on the flight school, but no more than 15 hours should be necessary.
